Merry Monday: Monochromatic Blue

It is never too early to think and plan for Christmas. That is why I’m going to be playing along with the Merry Monday stamping challenges. This Monday’s challenge is to make a Christmas card that is monochromatic blue.

Tag Tuesday

Today I wanted to share some Christmas tags I’ve been working on. I’m putting together a collection of gift tags to give as a gift. You’ll see some of the tags have ribbon on them and can be tied to ribbons on the gifts. Those without ribbon have tear & tape adhesive on the back of  the tag in case the person wrapping gifts isn’t using ribbon to decorate the package.

For the tags, I used a combination of punches, washi tape, stamps, thinlit dies, Designer Series Paper, and ribbon. To shop for any of the items I used today, click here.

Holiday/New Year Card

Today, I was inspired by the Global Design Project sketch challenge. Here is the sketch layout:

And here is the card I came up with:

I like that the sentiment isn’t specific – it can be used for Christmas, Hanukkah, New Year’s, or even a winter birthday! I stuck to only using the two colors (Whisper White and Soft Sky) since the snowflake packs such a powerful punch and I wanted that to be the star of the card. Christmas, continued

Although some of the radio stations started playing Christmas music a few weeks ago, I am holding out until Friday (the day after Thanksgiving) to start tuning in myself. I made this card to get me even more excited for all of the great Christmas songs I will listen and sing along to through the season. I am currently working on building my Christmas shopping list for friends and family. I’m also preparing myself for writing Thank You cards for gifts I receive so I’ve started working on some Christmas-themed Thank You cards as well.

More Christmas cards

As promised, my first few blog posts will picture some of the Christmas cards I’ve made this year.

Merry wreath: Similar to the Joy Christmas tree, this card features embossed paper meant to resemble snow. I love that the simple layout and design come together for a festive card.

Cozy card: The cable knit embossed paper and plaid paper come together to give me a warm, cozy feeling.

Hand stitched: These cards are my first attempt at hand stitching cards. They are available to purchase as a kit to assemble and were much easier than I expected! To purchase this kit or other Stampin Up! products, click here.

Christmas Cards

Christmas is my favorite holiday; combine that with my love for crafting and making cards, my first few blog posts will feature lots of Christmas cards I designed this year.

Joy Christmas tree: I love the embossed paper that looks like snow falling around the Christmas tree.

Mittens: for this card, I wanted to give a nod to the mittens that many of us wore as kids with the string that kept them as a pair.

Gingerbread Houses: If you look closely, you can see the pearls and rhinestones that are used as smoke coming from the top of the chimney.
