Art from the Heart

Welcome to the Pals monthly blog hop. We’re so glad you’re here! January is all about making “Art from the Heart,” featuring projects for Valentines Day, Thinking of You, Get Well, or Sympathy. You may be starting the hop here or coming from a previous Pal’s blog. Either way, you’ve come to the right place. You’ll find the the full line-up below to help you move, or “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

I decided to make a Thinking of You card as they are always so helpful to have on hand. I used a combination of some new products from the new Occasions Catalog and current items from the Annual Catalog.

We had an unseasonably warm weekend as I was making this card and wanted to bring the spring feeling to this card. The Gingham Gala Designer Series paper screams spring to me and is one of my favorite new items in the Occasions Catalog so I knew I wanted to use it for this card. I stamped the greenery image from the Petal Palette with Pear Pizzazz set twice on my Whisper White cardstock – each one 180from the other. I cut out a strip of Pear Pizzazz and laid it over the section on the cardstock where the stamped greenery meets each other. I stamped the sentiment and more greenery on a strip of Whisper White before adding a linen thread bow and popping it up with dimensionals. I stamped out a flower on scrap paper and fussy cut it out and added it to my top layer.

I wanted to give myself lots of room inside the card to write my note but I added a strip of the Gingham paper and stamped the greenery and a flower to give it some visual interest.

More inspiration awaits! Use the Blog Hop Line-up below to visit the rest of this month’s Design Team. My fellow Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Don’t forget to show us some love by commenting on our creations. Mark your calendars for Wednesday, February 13, 2019 when our Hoppin’ Pals share their “It’s Time to Sale-A-Brate” projects. Don’t miss the fun!

January 2019

This year was the year of the calendar as a Christmas gift in our family. My parents and I each received a photo calendar filled with pictures starring 1 year old niece with other family members. I also made a photo calendar for my husband with landscape photos I took during trips the last 2 years along the Blue Ridge Parkway, Maine, Maui, and more. I also stamped almost 10 calendars as Christmas gifts this year. I purchased small wooden easels from Amazon and downloaded a free printable calendar – I saved the calendar to a USB drive and brought it to my local printer with a package of my Whisper White Stampin’ Up! paper and had them print the pages for me on my paper.

I cut each page in quarters, stamped with a stamp set that I thought matched the month and backed the Whisper White paper on a coordinating color of cardstock.

Here is my January page – I hope you enjoy and come back to see the rest of the months. Happy 2019!

The blue in this card makes it perfect for the Festive Friday challenge #FF0024 which uses blue and/or letter writing.

Christmas Card

We woke up to snow today which meant a perfect time to hunker down (when it snows in South Carolina you don’t leave the house for a day) and make some cards. Check out my entry for the #festivefridaychallenge – challenge #FF0022: Christmas and/or Snowflakes. I decided to incorporate both! I also had a hard time deciding on if I wanted the card to be portrait or landscape so I made one of each!

The front was all done with thinlit dies run through the Big Shot machine. The Big Shot die brush, precision based plate and fine tip glue pen helped get those delicate images and text cut and onto my card.

This may be my first card where I didn’t do any stamping on the outside of my card – for this card, my only stamping is the sentiment inside.  IMG_8209

Post update: I was selected as a Festive Favorite Fave for this entry!
